Abstract
Abstract
The intricate interplay of physical and chemical phenomena within the raceway constitutes a significant determinant influencing both the stable operation and energy consumption management of blast furnaces. However, there still lacks of research on the gas-solid flow characteristics and interaction mechanisms of non-spherical particles in the raceway. Many fundamental dynamics problems, such as the movement mechanism of non-spherical particles and the effect of mixing ratio of varied multi-shape particles on the evolution process of the raceway, have not been comprehensively analyzed. The effects of four different volume fraction of non-spherical particles mixed on the evolution morphology and microstructure of the raceway in the mixed particle system were systematically studied and analyzed. The numerical simulation results indicate that as the volume fraction of non-spherical particles increases from 0 to 9%, the width and height of the raceway increase by 96% and 67%, respectively. The drag force acted on particles increases with the increase in the volume fraction of non-spherical particles. The probability density function distribution of the normal contact force between particle shifts leftward, and the peak decreases as the volume fraction of non-spherical particles increases. Additionally, when mixing non-spherical particles, the peak of the coordination number probability density function distribution is smaller compared to the case when there is no mixing. The percentage of non-spherical particles in a mixture has a substantial impact on the shape and internal structure of the blast furnace raceway.
